West Nile Virus Latest Count: Centers for Disease Control website
As of November 25, 2003, there have been 199 deaths related to West Nile virus in 30 states: Alabama (3), Arizona (1), Colorado (45), Delaware (2), Florida (6), Georgia (4), Illinois (1), Indiana (4), Iowa (4), Kansas (4), Kentucky (1), Louisiana (4), Maryland (5), Michigan (1), Minnesota (4), Mississippi (1), Missouri (6), Montana (2), Nebraska (21), New Jersey (2), New Mexico (4), New York (8), North Dakota (4), Ohio (4), Pennsylvania (7), South Dakota (13), Tennessee (1), Texas (28), Virginia (1), and Wyoming (8).

There have been 8567 human cases of West Nile virus confirmed by the Centers for Disease Control (CDC). The following 45 states plus the District of Columbia have confirmed cases of West Nile virus: Alabama, Arizona, Arkansas, California, Colorado, Connecticut, Delaware, Florida, Georgia, Idaho, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Mississippi, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, Nevada, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New Mexico, New York, North Carolina, North Dakota, Ohio, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, South Carolina, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, Vermont, Virginia, West Virginia, Wisconsin, and Wyoming. Colorado has by far the largest number of confirmed cases (2477) of any state so far this year. These numbers reflect human cases that have been reported and verified to ArboNet by state and local health departments during 2003. ArboNet is the national, electronic surveillance system established by the CDC to assist states in tracking West Nile virus and other mosquito-borne viruses.

As of November 25, 2003, verified cases of avian, animal, or mosquito infections have been reported in the following 44 states plus the District of Columbia: Alabama, Arizona, Arkansas, California, Colorado, Connecticut, Delaware, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Mississippi, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New Mexico, New York, North Carolina, North Dakota, Ohio, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, South Carolina, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, Vermont, Virginia, West Virginia, Wisconsin, and Wyoming.
